Meet Your Instructors

Faith Stearns
I have the same concerns about my children as you do about yours. Being a resident of Charlotte, NC, and having so many opportunities to go to the beach and join neighbors in a pool, I am aware of the tragic stories of infants' drowning. Already an occupational therapist, I care about people and their well-being. Becoming a mother took those concerns to a whole new level. So I took the ISR course. In addition to having my masters degree in Occupational Therapy, I am a certified ISR instructor. You and your child (children) are in good hands with me.

Vanessa Gault
I have been a certified ISR instructor since 2019. I found out about ISR when my daughter was a few months old and knew it was the only program I wanted for her (and later for my son who I had the pleasure of teaching). My family is always around water either in our backyard pool, on our boat, or visiting family on the lake. I became an instant believer in ISR and everything it teaches children and families about water safety. As a pediatric physical therapist for over 10 years I have unfortunately seen the results of non-fatal drownings and am passionate about doing everything I can to help keep our children safe. During the school year, I work with children from 3 to 22 years old with varying disabilities with mild to severe gross motor deficits. In the spring and summer I teach ISR lessons in Huntersville. I love watching the children gain skills and confidence during our time together and seeing how much they grow over the years when they come back for refresher lessons. I am so lucky to work with amazing ladies on the ISR at the Lake team to continue towards our goal of not one more child drowns.

I am a mother of two boys 5 and 3 and I have a Bachelors Degree in Psychology because I knew I always wanted a job that allowed me to help others. I have been fortunate enough to be a stay at home mom to my two little ones and when my oldest was 18 months old, I researched swim lessons and when I found ISR I knew it was exactly what I was looking for. As a mother it was so wonderful to see my little one become so confident in his skills that were once so foreign to him. After having my second child, I put him in ISR also and there was no better feeling than watching both of my children know how to self rescue. ISR has been something that has been so near and dear to my heart and something I have always advocated for. ISR was such a huge blessing to our family and I am so thankful I am able to help other families in my community.

Erin Buda
I was born and raised in Michigan and moved to North Carolina to teach. I have been teaching middle school math for the past 15 years and absolutely love the life my husband and 3 kids have built in NC. We spend a lot of our time in the pool and water safety is my top priority with my kids. Three years ago I found the ISR program and watched my youngest son blossom into this amazingly confident swimmer. I just knew I had to be a part of this program. I am beyond blessed that I now get to blend my love of teaching with my passion of keeping kids safe.
